YES!!!! The turtle who false crawled on Briarcliffe came back and laid a perfect nest.
Cindy and Larry came upon the crawl just south of yesterday's crawl. Judy and her friend, John were soon on the scene as well. This time the turtle went up onto the dunes, big, deep body pit with uprooted vegatation.
Incoming crawl was shorter than her outgoing crawl.
Rob probed in the mound of sand just at the end of the incoming crawl and quickly found the egg cavity.
The DNA egg was quickly taken from the top, the rest of the eggs were covered back up, the nest was caged, roped off and the DNR sign went up.
Cindy processed the DNA egg.
NMB Nest #19. The third nest on the Briarcliffe Beach. S.C.U.T.E. Nest #180.
Last year, S.C.U.T.E. recorded 77 nests in all.
Thank you so much Cindy, Larry and Judy. We also had some interested visitors who were beside themselves with glee! Great Sunday morning for us all.
