EARLY MORNING LOGGERHEAD SEA TURTLE STRANDING # 5 MAY 28th

Early morning,  just after midnight,   call comes in to the NMB STP Hotline. A Sea Turtle coming up out of the water. Soon NMB STP Volunteers are on their way.

Hopeful that it may be a nesting Sea Turtle, and all would be able to make sure she was able to nest in

peace. No lights, no pictures and no one near her to scare her back into the ocean.  As this is one of the

most important things to ensure she has the best chance to nest.

It was quickly determined by Linda and Chuck that this Sea Turtle was stranded and in need of help.

Linda and Chuck pull this large Sea Turtle out of the rolling surf.  Putting her in a Sea Turtle sling to

help carry her to the car as she is very heavy. 2 very nice bystanders jumped right in to help carefully

lifting this Large Sea Turtle to bring her off the beach.

The loggerhead is  loaded into Chucks Car for transport to the Sea Turtle Care Center.  Chuck must wait a couple of hours before starting the 2 hour drive, Care Center is not open yet.

While Chuck is preparing for the long trek to the Sea Turtle Care Center, the Loggerhead Sea Turtle passes   away, a very sad morning.

ALL SEA TURTLES ARE FEDERALLY AND STATE PROTECTED
