Kemp's Ridley - Thursday May 24

Another little juvenile Kemp's Rdley washed up on North Myrtle Beach.  Thursday, May 24, just before noon, a turtle stranding was reported to the City of NMB.   NMB Animal Control along with Linda, from the NMB Sea Turtle Patrol investigated the report.  Sure enough, a small Kemp's, under 20 pounds, had washed in with the tide under the "Sea Cabins" pier at 60th Ave N in the Cherry Grove Section.

Beautiful little turtle.  No barnacles or other hitchhikers.  No obvious wounds.

No entanglement, was not emaciated.  No apparent cause of death.

What a shame that this rare turtle's life was cut short!
