Nest # 9 was left in situ, (left where it was laid) this mother nested in the perfect spot. It was far enough up on the beach that it was safe from high tides reaching it. One egg Was taken for DNA Studie's and the nest quickly covered back up. We were all anticipating how many eggs this mother laid but had to wait for inventory to find out.
This nest incubated for 55 days
All are curious how many eggs she may have laid. The inventory is completed, and we are able to count that this Loggerhead Sea Turtle laid 141 eggs.
All are in anticipation to see the outcome of this in situ (kept right where it was laid)
Great results in this nest, of the 140 incubating eggs, 134 hatched
6 live Hatchlings were found in this nest that couldn't make it out on their own. Once inventory is completed, they are released on the beach to make their way to the Ocean and start their long Journey to the Sargasso Sea. where they will spend their first few years.
Inventory results of this in this natural nest
