NMB protected Loggerhead nest # 10

NMB STP out walking on their early morning walks see a beautiful crawl.  This crawl right up to the very top of the dunes and over to the other side. NMB STP Volunteers make an excited call to the NMB STP Hotline and soon more NMB STP Volunteers arrive to help.

Wow! where to start.  The dunes have been recently worked, so the normal way of finding the nest by probing will not be able to be used.  The sand is soft all through the Dunes.  But the Volunteers have other ways of reading the signs.  The determined NMB STP carefully read the vegetation signs, and yes, the egg chamber is found.

Great job to all the Volunteers walking this morning and every morning. They are the reason the Endangered Sea Turtle Nest are able to be found and protected.  All making the difference in helping to save the Sea Turtle Species.

All Sea Turtles are endangered.  They are federally and state protected, special guidelines, training and permits are required to work with nesting Sea Turtles, Nest, Hatchlings and Stranded Sea Turtles.

If you encounter a Nesting Sea Turtle, Hatchling or a Stranded Sea turtle in NMB or Briarcliffe areas please call:
