NMB Endangered Sea Turtle Stranding 12

Early Morning call into the NMB STP Hotline.  A stranded Sea Turtle at the water's edge.   The NMB STP Stranding team quickly respond.  Once there they can see it is in very bad shape and weak, what is considered a DTS Sea Turtle. A quick overall body condition and measurements are taken.

Even though this Sea Turtle is still considered a juvenile, it is very heavy.  A sling is used to help get this Heavy endangered off the beach.

All Sea Turtles are endangered, they are federally, and state protected.  Special guidelines, training and permits are required to work with Nesting Sea Turtles, Nest and Stranded Sea Turtles.

If you are in NMB or Briarcliffe areas and encounter a Nesting Sea Turtle, Hatchling or stranded Sea Turtle please call:
