Stranding #9 Briarcliffe has a green Sea Turtle Stranding

A report to Briarcliffe STP Volunteers, a small Sea Turtle in a tide pool, people are picking up.  Briarcliffe Volunteers are quickly at stranding.  Soon more Volunteers are there to help.  The Sea Turtle is taken to a shaded secure area. Some of the people who had reported this sea turtle, and families are excited to see and learn.

As one of the Volunteers favorite jobs, educating and interacting with the very special group that has come to see. all are very curious and very respectful. So many great questions and will be ready in knowing just what to do to help in case they ever encounter an Endangered Sea Turtle in the future.

A call into DNR and it is determined that this Endangered Sea Turtle is in need of help.  He or She will be transported to the Sea Turtle Care Center in Charleston.

Pictures and measurements, an overall body condition is reported. So as soon as this Sea Turtle arrives at the hospital, they have the most detailed information to be able to help diagnose what this Sea Turtle needs.

The future generation are there to help and learn.

So many great questions as they learn about the Endangered Sea Turtles.  One never knows what impact this may have on our future generation that will lead the way to further protect these endangered Sea Turtle Species.

All Sea Turtles are Endangered, they are federally, and state protected.  Special guidelines, training and permits are required to work with Nesting Sea Turtles, Nest, Hatchling and Stranded Sea Turtles.
