Stranding #4 in North Myrtle Beach

A call coming in the early morning hours of the day.  You just never know when a call may come in, but at a moment's notice the NMB STP Stranding team is on the way.

Along with getting a quick assessment of the Sea Turtle, Volunteers also Talk with bystanders that happen to be on the beach.  The knowledge they get today may just save the next stranding as they will know not to put a stranded Sea Turtle back into the water, as they are week and in need of help.

Sea Turtles spend their entire lives in the Sea once they hatch, only coming to shore if they are in need of help or are nesting.

Pictures are taken, measurement and we will look for and wounds or fibropapillomas, hooks and fishing lines, and tags.

a call between DNR and the Sea Turtle Hospital with all of this information.  The information will give them an idea of what they may need immediately when the Sea Turtle arrives.

Studdle is his/her name

All Sea Turtles are endangered.  They are federally and state protected. Special training, precautions and permits are needed to work with Standings, Nesting Sea Turtles, Hatchlings and Nest.
