As daylight brings up the crawl and body pit, it is certainly a very big possibility that this will be a successful nest.
Always a nice smile and a wave from the NMB City Rakers, they will often times call the NMB STP Hotline when they spot a crawl, they will go around the crawl and body pit as not to disturb it. Many thanks to all.
The egg chamber is easily found. Because this is in a busy part of the beach with many lights it will be relocated to a safer part of the beach. we take this opportunity to count the eggs as they are being relocated.
There are 97 eggs in this nest
Also, an oblong egg with a calcium tail and two small spacer eggs. The first egg is the oblong egg with a calcium tail, the second egg is a regular size egg for comparison, and the two small non- viable spacer eggs.
One egg will be used for DNA studies.
Great job to all the NMB, Briarcliffe and no man's land out walking and all that help every day. They are the reason the endangered Sea Turtle nest can be protected.
All Sea Turtles are endangered, they are federally, and state protected. Special guidelines, training and permits are required to work with Nesting Sea Turtles, Nest, Hatchlings or stranded Sea Turtles
