NMB has protected its first endangered Loggerhead Sea Turtle

A Beautiful Morning. The NMB STP Volunteers have found a Beautiful Crawl as they begin their walk.  Volunteers Walk at Sunrise from May 1st to August 15th looking for any signs that an Endangered Sea Turtle may have nested.  The nest is protected following the guidelines, training and Permits, as all Sea Turtles are endangered.

Probing is done and the eggs are found, because this is in an unsafe place, the eggs will be relocated and protected to a safer part of the beach.

Once the eggs are relocated the egg chamber will be protected with a cage, poles and a sign indicating that this is a Protected Endangered Sea Turtle Nest.

All Sea Turtle are Endangered; they are federally, and state protected. Special Training, guidelines and Permits are required to work with Nesting and Stranded Sea Turtles.

If you encounter a Nesting Sea Turtle, Stranded Sea Turtle or accidentally hook a Sea Turtle while fishing, please call the NMB STP Immediately.
