Endangered Loggerhead Sea Turtle nest #3 protected in NMB

What a beautiful morning as the NMB STP Volunteers are out walking at early sunrise looking for any signs of Sea Turtle activity.  Great news as a call from Volunteers and NMB Sanitation of a crawl coming into the NMB STP Hotline. The NMB Sanitation is a great help as many will report a crawl as they see it and making sure not to rake over the nest.

Some new Volunteers along with Seasoned Volunteers, looking at the crawl as they learn from the crawl to see which set is incoming and outgoing.

Soon probing is done as they have carefully found the egg chamber. The eggs will be relocated to a safer part of the beach as this is a very busy part of the beach and many lights behind the nest that would endanger the Hatchlings as they may turn the wrong way to the lights.

143 eggs are relocated to a safer part of the beach

The nest is protected with a cage, poles, rope and a sign indicating that this is a protected Endangered Sea Turtle nest.

Great work to the NMB STP Volunteers all helping the endangered Sea Turtle Species survive.
