Sea Turtle Stranding #4

Sunday was a busy day for the NMB STP Stranding team.  This will be the second Stranding of the day.  When the call came in the NMB STP Volunteers were soon to arrive.

A juvenile Green Sea Turtle floating in the surf. When examined, it was still alive. quickly calls are made between SCDNR and the SC Sea Turtle hospital.  Measurements and a quick assessment are taken.

Because time is always of the essence, this very sick Sea Turtle was on its way to the SC Sea Turtle Hospital.  Another Permitted Volunteer closer to Charleston stepped in to meet up with the NMB STP and finished transporting to the Sea Turtle Hospital.

All Sea Turtles are endangered, they are federally, and state protected.  Special guideline's, training and permits are required to work with Nesting Sea Turtles, Nest and Stranded Sea Turtles.

If you encounter a nesting Sea Turtle or stranding in NMB or Briarcliffe areas, please call:
