NMB false crawl #10

As morning NMB STP Volunteers are walking their segments they find a nice incoming and outgoing crawl. But the beach has been raked and part of the crawl completely erased. The Volunteers look past the raking and are able to find part of the crawl and potential of two body pits.  Soon more Volunteers are there to help.

While following the crawl as this tells us much of the story, the crawl is right at a beach access.

A beautiful long incoming and outgoing crawl.

There are two possible areas where she may have nested. One on the top of a low dune and one at the base of the dunes.  Both areas are possible body pits. They were probed extensively but unfortunately no egg chamber was found.

The bigger more promising body pit at the base of the dunes.

At the top of the low dunes in the walkway was another place she may have attempted to nest.

All Sea Turtles are endangered, they are federally, and state protected.  Special guidelines and permits are required to work with nesting Sea Turtle's mothers, nest, hatchlings and stranded Sea Turtles.

If you encounter a Sea Turtle in NMB or Briarcliffe areas, please call the NMB STP Hotline.
