Inventory on Endangered Sea Turtle Nest #4

This endangered Loggerhead Sea Turtle knew just what she was doing.  Her nest was close enough to the dunes with very little lighting near it.  This nest was left in situ (left where it was). 1 egg was taken for the important DNA studies and quickly buried back up.  The number of eggs in this nest was unknown until the inventory is done.

This nest incubated for 58 days

Anything of interest with this nest is shared with all that have come to this inventory.

All are welcome to line up a safe distance from a hatchling being making its way to the ocean.

These 2 pictures along with others in this blog are taken by Cherie Barrett, they are copyrighted and belong to her.

The Inventory results
111 eggs in this nest, 1 used for DNA studies. 110 eggs incubating in this nest.
97.2% hatch success rate if incubated eggs

110 eggs incubated
107 hatched eggs
3 whole unhatched eggs
   2 died early development
   1 died late development
1 dead hatchling
