Endangered Loggerhead Sea Turtle Nest #21

A promising Crawl and body pit. As rain has taken some of the crisp clear signs, we are still able to use other signs to determine where the most likely place is to start looking for the egg chamber.

The nest is too close to the water, below Spring HTL so is relocated closer to the Dunes.  A cage along with rope and poles and a sign indicating this is an Endangered Sea Turtle Nest.

One egg will be used for the critical DNA studies to help with many of the unknowns of the Sea Turtle Species.  This information is entered in a national data base.

Thanks to all of the NMB, Briarcliffe and NO Mans Land all out walking this morning end every morning, all making the difference in the survival of the endangered Sea Turtle Species.

All Sea Turtles are endangered, they are federally, and state protected.  Special guidelines, training and permits are required to work with Nesting Sea Turtles, Nest, Hatchlings and Stranded Sea Turtles.

If you are in NMB or Briarcliffe areas and encounter a nesting Sea Turtle, Hatchling or stranding please call:
