Inventory on Protected nest #7

Protected Loggerhead nest #7 incubated for 52 days.  110 eggs were laid by this mother, 1egg egg was used for DNA studies 109 eggs were protected. This information will be shared in a data base to help researchers and conservationist help this endangered Sea Turtle species survive.

The tide is high tonight, but the water will not reach the nest, just a smaller portion of the beach to work on.

Many NMB STP Volunteers are here to help.  They are eager to see the results of this protected Loggerhead Sea Turtle nest.  The NMB STP do what they love and share their passion and knowledge with fellow volunteers and all that have come to see the inventory.  Seeing the faces and smiles of all as they talk and share information that will help in the future of the beautiful Sea Turtle species says it all.

During the inventory, two little loggerhead Sea Turtles are found in the nest. They will soon make their way to the ocean to start their journey.

All are able to see the hatchlings at a safe distance, until inventory is done. The release will be monitored to make sure nothing interferes as they make their way to the ocean.

The hatchlings will have a wide path as they are released on the beach to make their way to the ocean on their own.

And they are on their way.

All are able to come and look at the egg chamber and what the eggshell look like, the results are carefully documented.
