Inventory on protected Loggerhead Sea Turtle nest #4

This nest incubated for 56 days before the major emergence.

Starting with an oval crack a few days before the major emergence.

A few days later these beautiful tracks indicating a major emergence.  Sea Turtles instinctively go towards the water, as long as no interference from artificial lights or human activity.  Happy to report that they all that made it out of the nest on their own out to the open Sea to start their journey of life.

Inventory was done after the specified number of days After the major emergence.  Many NMB STP Volunteers are there to help, all happy to share their passion and knowledge with fellow volunteers and all that happen to be on the beach and have come to watch.

During the inventory, one little hatchling was found deep into the nest that had not been able to make it out of the nest on its own.  the Hatchling is put in a bucket until the inventory is done in case there are others in this nest. all are allowed to see the hatchling while the inventory is being completed.

What we are all waiting for, inventory success rate, which had great results.

110 eggs were in this nest, one was used for DNA studies, 109 eggs relocated in this nest.

97.2 % Hatch success rate.

106 hatched eggs
3 whole eggs, 2 of these were pipped.
1 live hatchling
0 dead hatchling
