INVENTORY ON NMB NEST # 16

 This nest was laid on July 11th 123 eggs were in this nest, one was used for DNA studies and incubated for 56 days. The very good hatch rate of 96%.

THIS NEST HAD 123 EGGS, ONE WAS USED FOR DNA STUDIES




LOTS OF ANTICIPATION AS THE INVENTORY STARTS ON NEST #16






ALL HATCHLINGS HAD MADE IT OUT OF THE NEST ON THERE OWN, THERE WAS ONE DECEASED HATCHING WITH THE EGG SAC STILL ATTACHED.





THE EGG SHELLS FROM THE NEST ARE CAREFULLY COUNTED AND DOCUMENTED.



 ALL ARE ABLE TO COME TO LOOK AT THE EGG CAVITY, AS VOLUNTEERS SHARE THE KNOWLEDGE AND PASSION THEY HAVE FOR THESE ENDANGERED SEA TURTLES.

  4 of these were discolored and collapsed
  1 was pipped, dead hatchling with yolk sac still attached


All Sea Turtle are endangered, they are federally, and state protected, special guidelines, training and permits are needed to work with all Sea Turtles.
