A crawl is found on Candyce, Adam, Patrick, Lauren and Nancy's segment. NMB STP Volunteer Connie, and Beach walkers Noel and Donna called NMB STP and soon volunteers are there to help.
THIS MOTHER NESTED A LITTLE DIFFERENT THAN TYPICALLY SEEN; SHE HAD TURNED BEFORE NESTING.
THE CRAWL AND BODY PIT ARE STUDIED TO HELP DETERMINE THE SPOT SHE MAY HAVE LAID HER EGGS.
PROBING TO FIND THE SPOT FOR THE POTENTIAL NEST IS DONE, LINDA VERY CAREFULLY DIGS DOWN TO LOOK FOR EGGS. AND YES, EGGS ARE FOUND!
AS THIS MOTHER NESTED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BEACH, VERY HIGH TRAFFIC AREA, THIS NEST IS MOVED TO A SAFER PART OF THE BEACH CLOSER TO THE DUNES.
123 EGGS, 1 USED FOR DNA STUDIES.
A HOLE IS DUG TO REPLICATE THE ORIGINAL NEST THEY ARE BEING RELOCATED FROM.
MUCH LIKE A LIGHTBULB SMALL HOLE AT THE TOP, ROUNDED AND WIDER AT THE BOTTOM.
NMB STP VOLUNTEERS LAUREN AND PATRICK ARE PROCESSING THE DNA EGG. JUST THE OUTER SHELL WILL BE USED AS THIS HAS JUST THE NESTING MOTHER'S DNA
DON, KIM, SALLY AND CHRIS P ARE PUTTING UP A CAGEAROUND THE NEST TO PROTECT THIS NEST FROM ANYTHIG SHAREING THE BEACH WITH THEM.
A Sea Turtles are endangered, they are Federally, and State protected. There is special training and
