PROTECTED ENDANGERED LOGGERHEAD SEA TURTLE NEST #14

 While we often get these beautiful textbook crawls and body pits, we often encounter the not so easy.

While the incoming and outgoing crawl was pretty visible closer to the water line, the wind as we got closer to the dunes would quickly erase much of the signs.  When they say it takes a village it really does.

Part of the windblown body pits, these would be determined not to have the egg chamber.  After determining this another vague windblown area was looked at.  hard to see as this could be where she turned or could be the area of where the egg chamber is.  The third area is where the egg chamber would be found.

Many people have come to look at what is going on.  The NMB STP are sharing all about the crawl, the nest and what we are doing. They will also explain that all Sea Turtles are Endangered, and special training, guidelines and permits are required to work with this nest.  On these sisters trip they will bring home a new awareness about the Endangered Sea Turtle species

This nest was in an unsafe part of the beach.  The nest will be carefully and delicately relocated.  A cage is put together to protect the relocated eggs from all sharing the beaches with us.  A rope and sign indicating this is a protected endangered Sea Turtle Nest will be put around the cage

133 eggs were in this nest.
